Hourly billing only (i.e. no fixed priced bids)

I use my professional experience and skills to try and provide estimates, if/when needed. However, it is important to realize that custom software development includes considerable unknown factors that may affect the true cost of the project. To mitigate surprises I'm committed to open, honest communication and keeping my clients informed of the current project status throughout all phases of development.

My hourly rate is negotiable and it depends on the nature of the work, length of the contract and requirement for on-site or off-site (remote) development. Depending on the scenario additional expenses (lodging, travel) may be billed also as agreed by both parties.

What is considered billable?

Everything directly related to your project e.g. researching subject matter at hand, setting up the development environment, analyzing existing codebase, meetings, programming, testing, debugging, fixing bugs, documentation (e.g. gathering requirements, system descriptions, training materials), phone/email support, etc. is considered billable.

For startups

I can offer substantially lower rates (not free) for startup companies with a viable business plan in need of solid software development with at least one condition listed below:

• share of company stock (founder type, dilution proof)
• royalties from software licenses or other products *
• revenue from advertising *

* If this is your company's main or one of the main sources of income.
